I have a list of mangas I really like, but I am too lazy to point them out.

"D. Gray-man" is kind of creepy to me (even though I still buy the manga).
I find Shounen mangas to have a good plot and creativity behind them, but I can't help but like Shoujo (a little bit) more for the pretty fluffs and aweing/budding romance.

My fave all time : The Case of Young Kindaichi/Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenboo/Detective Kindaichi(Read this!! don't read Conan/Case Closed!!!), Monster and 20th Century Boys(Naoki Urusawa is really good for making this 2 masterpiece, if you haven't read it then you are missing one of masterpiece manga, believe me!!!) and also of course Air Gear :p

For one shot manga I like the one tittled Your dark wings(Kimi no Kuroi tsubasa) and Your White Wings(Kimi no shiroi tsubasa), it's talk about the angel(on white wings) and devil(black wing) that must send the dead spirit to heaven or hell, and before they can go to there the angel and the devil usually must make the spirit calm first before he/she could go to the heaven or hell, it's really good... especially the dark wings... I couldn't help myself from having a tears on the astronot chapter

Berserk - I have yet to find a manga that is better. It has almost everything you can ask for. Plot, Character Depth, Death, Love, Friendship, Betrayal etc. Of course it tends to hover about the more sinister themes. Though it adds to the tragic nature of main character. But of course its an acquired taste.

on my read list therre is Shin ANgyo Onshi, which i can't find anyone translating! great series, each chapter is super long though. I recommend it, Ichigo 100%, Hatsukoi Limited (obviously), Death Note was flawless (except for the ending), Naruto, bleach, 666 satan, FMA,

Ive read alot of good manga and have only been let down by one of them FLCL. The manga im a big fan of of and would recommend are :
Bleach, Hellsing, Naruto(im finding the current chapters too short and almost boring bt i know they'll get better), Rurouni Kenshin, Air Gear, Tenjou Tenge, Ouran High School Host Club, Claymore, 666 Satan (i enjoyed this a bit more then Naruto), Eyeshield 21(if u dont like sports dem i doubt ull like it bt give it a chance), FMA, Fruits Basket, Suzuka, Ichigo 100%, Midori no Hibi, Neon Genesis Evangelion (Angelic Days too),Trigun and Elfen Lied. Ive started others bt id have t finish them to recommend them.

The FLCL manga is AMAZING.

I suggest checking out Kamiyadori... Don't know why it's not even on Wikipedia, but the artwork and story are awesome. Buncha naked lolis, scruffy dudes with guns, monsters and big breasted chicks. Good times.

Rurouni Kenshin-kinda long,but still-best samurai manga EVER and it's way better than the anime.
One Piece-because it has pirates.And because it tells the story of the passionate love between a man and his hat :D
Uzumaki-no,it's got nothing to do with Naruto.It's a horror manga about a village where everyone gets obsessed by spirals(hence the name:uzumaki - spiral,whirpool) and slowly starts a transformation into creatures incorporating spirals in themselves.

I recommend Beach stars too. It's a sport manga with lots of fanservice, the drawings are really nice and the story it's very easy to follow. But you have to like beach volley or volleyball.... or the fanservice of course.

For those who like a more girly feel, I recommend Shugo Chara and Kitchen Princess. They're really very good, if you like the whole drama, romance, or magical girl setting. Kitchen Princess doesn't have magical girls, but it does have a few places where it reaches into the not-exactly-plausible. Shugo Chara is definitely a magical girl and it's got romance and such. KP is a drama/romance.

I'd also recommend Bokura ga Ita/We Were There... it's mostly drama/romance, not much else there.

Ahaha, I read Shugo Chara occasionally, even though I'm a guy. Is that weird? It's really a nice "feel good" series, so I check a chapter or two at times when I have too much time.

And for some more manly stuff: I'd recommend Blame! and Biomega for those who like a creepy futuristic cyberpunk seinen atmosphere.

And Deadman Wonderland is pretty good too. If you're a shounenfag, and would be interested in getting to know the seinen demographic, then this is a perfect choice. DW is probably the most shounen-y seinen out there. And it's really good.

Mx0 is and High School of the Dead are my favorites too. They have a huge amount of fanservice, but are actually good and very interesting, unlike To-Love-Ru and the like.

And DOGS - Bullets & Carnage is awesome. Incredible art and an entertaining sci-fi mafia plot.

Yeah, the Tsukihime manga is pretty good. And if you like Liar game you should like Gamble Fish as well.

For those who like the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson, you should check out the manga version. It's alright, just wish they would scan it faster.

Berserk is definetly something that gets you thinking... or running for brain bleach, but definetly a good manga.

GetBackers is also a great manga to read, the art is great.

To Aru Majutsu no Index is also good as well.

Reading berserk now, fucking win manga. Probably the only manga I feel i can re-read after i finish it.

Berserk is THE best manga, nuff said. And yes, do check out Vinland Saga, it's almost on the same scale of epicness. Be prepared to getting disappointed by Gantz, though. It's not very good. And Elfen Lied is a mixed bag, I personally dislike it but some like it.

I'll have to check out those manga. Anyways Getbackers is a great manga that I'd recommend to anyone. Also, even though I'd heard of it for years and never gave it any thought, after the recommendation of a friend, I recently started reading Oh!My Goddess. Much better than I thought.

Play the VN instead. The manga is not anything special. It pales in comparison to the VN, which is really good. Also the manga leaves out many clues and red herrings regarding the mystery of the murders.

I don't get why so many people are so hesitant to play VNs. They're missing out on a lot.

Good luck finding a 50+ hours VN on youtube. It's as long as FSN, except there's only one route, so no point in even trying. But the No Naku Koro Ni series is something you should definitely play instead of watching an adaption. You'll miss all the clues and won't be able to solve the mystery if you go with an anime/manga adaption. And when Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru starts, you won't probably get everything.

And I don't think VNs are hard to get to at all. Unless you go into them with the same mentality as you'd go into some new action based game, which is obviously wrong (They're called Visual NOVELS for a reason). I started Sekien no Inganock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR3zPJEu14M) yesterday, and I'm already hooked.

That's why you should get an external HD like I did. I'm using a really shitty laptop with like 100GB space. How the fuck do I even watch anime with this little space for fucks sake, when the average 24 ep series takes 8 GB? So I got myself a 1TB external HD. Feels good man, I can store my favorite manga, anime and VNs.

Also, VN's aren't that hard to find. The usual spots, Piratebay, Isohunt, mininova, TokyoTosho etc have the most. Or you could use http://vnddl.webs.com/list.txt.
And I' pretty sure most computers have the japanese locale.

I recommend reading Pokemon Special for anyone who enjoys or used to enjoy the games. Red is a goddamn boss, Yellow is a delicious reverse trap loli. Unlike the anime, this one actually has plot.

Also for some more unorthodox manga, try Prunus Girl and Onani Master Kurosawa (also known as Fap Note). For fans of the Darker than Black anime, there's the DtB: Shikkoku no Hana manga (but you need to watch the animu first).
