ive been out of games lately, and im looking for a good RPG again that can consume most of my time, single player preferably, im sick of noobs on MMO's and diablo clones ~~ before anyone starts mowing me down with Final fantasy and the like. I dont like japanese RPG's one bit.
To let you know what kind of games i like, my favorite games EVER are:
Fallout
Summoner
Sacrifice
nothing compares to those games, and i cant ****in wait till Fallout 3 gets released :D:D:D:D
so anyway, anyone got a few tips for good games?^^

Magic Stones is a role played game ( rpg ) based on Celtic mythology, and is a mix between a role-playing game and a card game. It is situated in the land of Aravorn, where you can find many hidden treasures in the darkest, most menacing places, where druids are challenged to duel every year in the Black Tower, in a fight to the death that will declare the absolute winner. Two playing styles, 20 different avatars available, each one with his unique skills, 17 different spells, and over 15 total enemy druids.
Gather Artifacts - If you choose this option, you will be able to roam freely throughout the entire kingdom of Aravorn in search of interesting places, like abandoned temples, enchanted forests, cursed islands, and so on. Each of these special places has hidden treasures: whether a magic formula, an amulet, a rune, or something else, each of these objects will increase your druid's power, not to mention the experience you'll get out of it (indispensable in increasing your character's level).
Found this one, never attempted to try it.

Star Ocean: The Second Story for Playstation 1
The first one is unimportant so you don't have to worry about it.
EDIT: Also Persona 3 is pretty good from what I've seen

I'm still playing FF 12, Xenosaga 3 and the latest; Persona 3. Yeah, Persona 3 does look nice... I almost became an instant fan of it at the first try of the game. ^^

i dunno if yur looking for console games...but allow me to impress my opinion of various must play RPG's.
someone mentioned star ocean: second story. yes that game is insane, and if yur looking for broad gameplay that game is so expansive its cazy.(ps)
FF2/3(p.s. im lisint all the US numbers for ease) imo the first truly great RPG's (snes)
Chrono trigger - nuts to RPG, greatest GAME of all time (snes)
Xenogears - predicessor to the not half as good Xeno saga games. (ps)
Lunar:SSSC and Lunar2: Eternal Blue - old school graphics but with anime cutscenes and an overall anime feel with really great storylines. (ps)
Tales of Destiny, phantasia, symphonia - if its got the Tales of in the title chances are it will be a solid game (PS, PS2, GC, etc.)
Radiata stories- a more recent sleeper title along the lines of suikoden with character recruitment, awesome game with funny diologue throughout. (PS2)
any Altus TBS games really- Disgaea, Phantom brave, Atlier Iris, and the most recent one Odin sphere is said to be badass.
Growlanser- theres a new one that just came out and this is another series you cant go wrong with.
Drakenguard 2 - the first one was kinda meh but they got it down in the second and while its not the most imaginative gameplay ever its still mighty fun.
FFTactics War of lions: If you havent already played FFT for the PS then pick this title up for the PSP. its and incredible game, so much that many consider it to be the best FF game.
there are plenty more where that came from >_> I've played like....every RPG since SNES so if any of those seem to yur liking i can give you other titles like them.

Someone else likes Radiata Stories? squee.
yeah, I'm into the usual. J-RPGs even if the OP doesn't like them.
On the PS2 nothing IMO beats the likes of Star Ocean TTEOT (I'm not comparing it to SS because I haven't PLAYED SS), Grandia II, Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria, and any of the NIS strategy RPGs. Though I like the few Atelier games we've gotten US releases of.
But my favorites are PSX games. Legend of Dragoon(my favorite game ever), the original Valkyrie Profile, FFIX (of course this is not the place to debdate these), Vagrant Story, Legend of Mana, etc.
Pan-console is the Tales series... I don't play a whole lot else on systems outside of Sony, but that's not because the games aren't good. Just a console-bias by habit and the fact that my sister owns the N64 and GCN and I own the PSX and PS2 and we keep to ourselves.

No Persona 3 what the fuck is wrong with you =V
Also Radiata Stories wasn't terribly good imho. I got through the entire thing (both Sides of the Story + Distortion Corridor on both sides + Level 99) in about a week. I would recruit all the characters but it's too tedious.
i usually play ff but kingdom hearts, some old classics like shining force on PC, etc

Maybe not necessarily the most polished, but these were the ones i've enjoyed playing the most:
1. Final Fantasy X.
2. Tales of Symphonia
3. Kingdom Hearts.
4. Persona 3
5. Pokemon.
If they created a half decent plotline for Pokemon, characters with personality and some form of drama.....how kickass would that be?

tales of symhonia is a good game.
I beat it in like 2/3 of the time the box said I would beat it in (70 hours i think. I beat around 45 hours.)
I didn't really get much out of it and the final battle didn't really feel much like a final battle. When I beat it, I was like, "Wait... what?"
I'm probably missing a bunch of random shit to 100% the game, but the fact that I got to the end within like 2 days + a weekend kinda made me stop playing the game entirely.

Hm...I'm too lazy to write down a bunch of RPGs. I liked the Xenosaga series. ^^ And Okami, assuming that it's an RPG.
