Is anyone else still following this manga?

It's recently added a few chapters and is up to 107 right now, I think.

some background info for people who don't know:

It's done by the same person who makes AirGear, the creative mastermind Oh!Great. Yes, it has loads of fanservice for the hormone controlled adolescents who read it. It's also got loads of violence and blood and stuff. However, it is interesting to see Oh!Great's artistic progress as the series goes on. His earlier style was definitely bleh and pales in comparison to his more recent works. He cleaned up his act in his later chapters and now the quality of art is definitely rivaling that of AirGear's. It's a martial arts themed manga, again, with a crappy anime version made (and failure'd). Loads of fun to read (I'm currently following it) and though released slowly, definitely holds your interest.

note: definitely meant for the older teens, as it has very sexual themes and lots of blood and gore.
but pushing that aside, it's a good read.

Tenjou Tenge is amazing, one of my very first manga's and I follow this manga religously. The reason I got into Air Gear was because I found that Oh! Great did it too. Its on 108 right now, raw came out errr, last week? Check it out when you get a chance, very very nice end-fight. Storyline is superb, probably rivals Air Gear's story, with more of a historical japanese sense. Air Gear is more set in the modern and futuristic sense. Yeah, the progression of Oh! Great's stlye and drawing in tenten is very noticeable. Plus, it was his first manga he's done since he did hentai before that. Its funny at times though because sometimes you notice that once in a while, he'll include an element from air gear and use it for tenten. Best arc for me so far in tenten is the ancient history arc. Nagi Ichiyou!

Yeah i read this manga, the Artwork is so awesome. I read Air Gear first and then TT. I liked it until they had those two annoying flashbacks which where like 2 volumes long each or something like that, i forget. Now we are in the last arc to the series, i think, and i just gotta say that it is just amazing on how Oh Great makes such hot chicks in these mangas. I gotta say one of the best artwork but the story, he needs more help on, but then again the artwork fixes it's mistake.

Right now I find it really interesting but since it's only released monthly I easily forget about it.

When I first saw the pics for Air Gear... right away I recognized this art design as Oh!Great's. Yeah, this was the first Oh!Great works that I've read and indeed it's cool though there were some serious violance and ecchi elements. But anyway, the fight is cool though the story line and the history of the Red Feathers and the White Feathers were rather interesting and somehow comfusing once read in detail.

I mostly refer to her as Ancient Aya. And the ancient nagi is nagi ichiyou ^^ Erm, I'm not sure if they are the first generation red feather group as the history is much further than that and the reason they are mentioned is because they were the first one's to directly oppose souhaku.

Release is usually on a month by month basis, usually the 19th or the coming friday. At the very least, its in its last arc and once he finishes tenten, he'll concentrate on air gear. I wonder though since air gear seems to be headed towards a final arc with trophaeum tower. Hope he does another manga though. His artwork and storytelling is very good.

Sohaku had been gouging eyes of the many through out centuries... looks like he's rather hard to be killed unless you were to stab him and cut him into pieces without having your eyes being taken out... still there are some risks that he might have used other people's eyes. Darn...

Aya starts to kick lots of butt towards the final arc and into the final arc. She actually surpassed maya in character for me just recently on how amazing she's become. They keep chopping her hair though! -.- If this keeps up, she'll have short hair like simca T_T

Maya seemed to be like dead or in coma and Nagi's mom went missing or should I say in hiding. I wonder what will happen to Nagi as his left eye had been gouged out by that mad priest/priestess. Nagi Ichiyou is dude but he has the appearance of a young female when he was younger, that is why he was able to enter the whore house, only females can enter the house and clients. Both Ancient Nagi and Ancient Aya are 9 years old during that time when they were opposing souhaku. I think one of the abilities of the natsume family was to make yourself appear older than you were.

haha, well I think it was one of their abilities, probably lost or not needed through the upcoming ages. However, they are dominantly known for the dragon's eye, which might I add, is an amazing power.

Whoops, nvm, I think ancient aya's "growth" is a special case that is one of those rare occurences. She was blessed to develop faster than anyone, so its not a natsume ability but a rare growth.

I would assume so. I guess its like current aya's tribute or something to ancient aya. Ancient arc is probably the best arc in all of tenten for me. Heh, imagine this, if ancient aya did live and ichiyou married her, nagi souichirou and current aya might of been bro/sis.

Well, he's in love with maya. Aya's always been in love with him. And maya is probably still caught up with mitsuomi. So, its kinda one-sided. He knows aya likes him, well actually he knows Aya loves him. She always constantly reminds him and well, she always say she will marry him. However, from the way things are going, it seems that OG is starting to build aya as a better/cooler character so I would assume he's trying to set up nagi x aya but who knows. Haha, but yeah, then nagi, maya and aya would be bro/sis if ichiyou married ancient aya!

Not really, I just think he needs a break from drawing manga. However, I believe when he does a break on tenjou tenge, it means he's working on Air Gear because that is a month long break.

I've never been a fan of masataka x aya. I'm not sure why but its never clicked for me. Madoko might be better but she's considerably younger than masa.

It was also cute to see Aya and Nagi kiss, seemed like Oh! Great really is shooting for those two

there's bound to be more. He just caught bunschichi off guard. I think vicious is talking about nokimi, who is a branch family of kago. Then again, I dont know how the hell souhaku kago can pass on his abilities through any of his children due to the fact that he switches bodies and its not his original body. How that happens totally confuses me.

very far from the anime. Because there is the f arc, nagi captured arc, ancient history arc, and the current tournament arc. May be more or less but thats according to major plot changes. Manga is way better anyways if you wanna pick it up because we learn about the red feathers, nagi's pops, the dragon fist, and a lot about the dragon's eye and its abilities.

umm if u saw the end of the anime which is epsiode 24 i think, u could start redaing from vol 7 or 8, i cant really remember, there is a huge difference between the two though, some of the things in the manga werent included so its always good to re-read it, i think its vol 8 where nagi pisses of matsuomi with the making out picture and the two fight

don't pay attention to the ova's.... worst ever.... read when the 24 episode anime stops..... the stories are completely different in the manga and ova's at that point because the manga begins the ishiyumi fight arc, which is awesome while the anime starts talking a bunch of nonsense about nagi being the true warrior.

Nagi is the good guy, but souhaku is the bad guy. If nagi uses his power one more time, souhaku will gain control of it and from the way the manga is leaning towards, that will probably happen. It seems like masataka will save the day and aya is getting stronger. She's learning how to use the dragon's eye and reiki. She's also trying to find a way to save both nagi and maya from their current states, that in itself is strength. There are still blotches inthe story and it will probably be explained later on like what ichiyou planned from the beginning and what is mitsuomi up to.

right and center. Its not real world its a manga ... Oh!G put the history in for a reason. No wonder he like abadon this manga ...

flashbacks are just the style of tt, its what makes tt unique (and the art ^^) i agree with Vicious. The main plot of this story is to show how they are repeating or trying not to repeat their past actions. Though i couldn't stand the recent ancient history arc.. at that time, i just wanted to know whether Maya is dead or alive T.T

the problem with tt is that its structure is more like a novel than a manga. I mean, with a novel, eventhough u don't know what's going on in the beginning, u eventually learn everything at the end of the book. TT is a manga though, each story arc takes up 3-4 or more chapters. And the manga releases once a month. Not to mention that the releases of the english scanlations are not constant and the translations makes the story even more confusing than it really is. So by the time we get to read the new chapter, we're likely to have forgotten/are still unsure of what has happened in the first place.

i'm guessing the best way to read this manga is just wait for each official volume to come out and read it that way. of course, that's just my preference. I've just caught up with the recent chapters recently and i had to go to my local bookstore to read the official trans before i fully understood what's going on :P but nontheless, i don't think its dead yet. It just seems dead because the scanlations appear infrequently :)

and i'm pretty sure its a seinen as well. It comes out in a seinen magazine - ultra jump.

wooo 112, yeah i agree TT is somewhat like a novel i'm always have a hole in my storyline whenever i read a chapter, my brain seems to catch something somewhere but has absolutely no idea what it is.

most of the 'extra' plot, i call it extra because its like a shadow to the story is hard to understand unless you really understand japanese poetry and even if you do it's unlikely to understand everything OG is trying to say cause it is so ambigious, so again the extra plot is most of the time an in depth of an action/person's thought. and a person's true thoughts and feelings isn't always clear, in fact it never is, even to themselves. so i think OG wants to portray this in his writings. I think this is even evident in AG. I think its interesting to note that TT isn't just a story about 1 person but the events that unfold and also everyone involved as unique and necessary beings.

Awesome fanservice, though i think some people are sadly underestimating this series because of that. well it is a seinen afterall, what else do adults want? complex story lines and outright sexy chicks.

there is no stronger powers, it all depends of the user, the only advantage nagi has is because he his able to have more than one dragon gate on his body, but it causes some damage to his body and can kill him, or destroy parts of his body if he his not strong enough to control the power.

yeah masataka does do some narrating but to be honest i dont find masataka to be the main character or who will turn into the "true" warrior because i think nagi souichirou will beat souhaku with the help of ichiyou and become the true warrior. i mean masataka still has potential and even souhaku thought he was a possibility but when it comes down to it i think it will be nagi who prevails. oh and i think the relationship between masataka and nagi will become like parallel of shin and mitsuomi (i think i spelt that wrong)

I think you are confused there are two different types of warriors.

1.The true warrior which masataka's dad is trying to create which i think masataka will become.
2.The true demon, which nagi's dad was trying to create by putting his eye in nagi.
Basically each family is making its own warrior. the red feathers and the white feathers, which is why I say that it is going to be a final fight between masataka vs nagi. In which nagi will loose, since he is on the side of evil, or aya will stop both of them.

God, how far Tenjou Tenge has gone in a few years. I love just about everything about it; the art, the characters, the action, and the humor. The plot could be a bit better, but otherwise TenTen is just about the single best shonen manga out of Japan, hands down. And Oh Great just decided out of the blue that he would get rich off of selling manga, and here he is, getting rich off of his titles. There are very few artists that are at his level both in development and contours.

That said, TenTen suffers from one HUGE problem that prevents it from achieving universal status: FLASHBACKS. They are FAR too drawn out for their own good, and even when they pertain to the storyline, they either don't make sense due to the philosophical bullshit being crammed down our throats, or they drag so long that we as the viewer wait for the story to continue. The recent one was somehow EVEN WORSE than the first one. Yes, godly artwork, yes, decent story, but JUST TOO DAMN LONG AND NOT INTERESTING.

Masataka beat Mitsuomi?Yeah,that will be kinda hard to swallow,but it's not impossible - after all,Mitsuomi should be barely standing on his own (after seeing the fight with Tawara I doubt that's true,he's either not that sick or has incredible willpower(or both)).Masataka,on the other hand,is way stronger than everyone thinks,other than Nagi and Mitsuomi I can't think of a guy who can beat him (not counting Tawara because he's...yeah).I'd say only Maya and Mitsuomi know just how strong he is,and Mitsuomi would like Masataka to be the one to stop him.There have also been a couple of times when we've seen Masataka go berserk(now isn't one of those times,he's still a hold of himself).When he fights like that,who knows?

I think Masataka right now is way stronger than Mitsuomi in the past(before taking that hit from Shin that worked like a cheat code for god mode).Still,he's probably gonna get his ass kicked the next chapter and go home with his dad.

1 - Reincarnation is right, Bob Marley bore his name quite well, what's wrong with that ?

2 - He really is a LOSER, right.

3 - The fact is that there is no main character in this manga. In the anime maybe but in the manga definitely not. There are tons of main characters such as Masataka, Mitsuomi, Soichiro, Aya, Maya, even that damn sword called reiki.

That's my vision of things, as to dropping the series, he shouldn't even think about it cause that series is better known that Air Gear some places, and I really think that manga contributed in a big fashion to make him develop his storyline in Air Gear.

Let's take some great examples of a successful Fantasy world: Nasuverse and Berserk. And no, don't even bring up shit like Naruto or Bleach. And it doesn't help that O!G has to spam those metaphors, which further makes the franchise feel very shallow. And horribly long flashback sequences make it pretty painful at times.

Well, perhaps illogical is the wrong word. The unstructured explanations, combined with pseudo-explanations in the form of absurd metaphors are really the thing that weakens TT. That, and the basic plotline is a very generic tournament type with way too long flashback arcs and general dragging on of the plot advancing. It isn't a horribly bad manga due to these faults, but it is a bit on the weaker side. Also, while I have nothing against fanservice or even graphic sexual intercourse in the stories I read/watch (I play Visual Novels, for fucks sake. 90% of those contain sex scenes. Even semi-mainstream series like F/SN and Tsukihime have those. Fate/Stay Night had 5 explicit sex scenes. Tsukihime had even more.), TT's constant "Bob sexing chicks half the size of his sledgehammer" is ridiculous. It really is out of place and adds nothing to the manga, except for making it seem "mature". Which OG's works are not, no matter if TT is considered seinen.

And maybe I'm being unfair when I compare Nasuverse mechanics to OGs stuff. First of all, Visual Novels give a chance for more in-depth explanation of phenomenons, and Nasu has a rather unique talent for coming up wit stuff. While OG puts metaphors and a few bubbles of text, Nasu explains in the VNs every single detail with 20+ lines of text. Even when Shirou just traces a sword, you go deep into every single detail of the projection and the pain Shirou feels. Of course, Nasu uses metaphors too, especially when Shirou uses Unlimited Blade Works. It’s just Nasu’s style to keep building multiple concepts upon the things he creates, and links them together into a well defined world.

Taken from within the manga's perspective they're a bunch of teenagers who become ridiculously strong over a short period of time and get shoved into the world of the supernatural. I would suspect that things are rarely understood as they are unveiled and sometimes not at all. I will admit the lack of explanation when I want it is a little annoying and a few things seem to have been completely skipped over. Most of the time I actually get more bored by over-elaborate or lengthy explanations even though they add a nice dynamic to the overall story. I guess that just means my standards are lower or I haven't read enough manga to be spoiled by the perfect balance of plot, action, and art. Even though you have clearly made me aware of the weakpoints, it's still a pretty good read.

Ofc, Nasu > O!G, but Ogure does get minimal respect for a diverse cast and using all of his characters well. O!G constantly shows us WHY he's considered the sick fuck of mangaka, his personal demons include an inferiority complex, pedophilia, zoophilia, sex addiction, hyperviolence, hidden bicuriousness, social psychosis, a hypophallic condition, and maybe even traces of schizophrenia and a mid-life crisis in full blast. All of his flaws are imposed upon his supporting characters, and he creates a "pure" self-insert that proceeds to beat the shit of his demons, instead of Ogure getting professional help in real life. Tenjou Tenjou and Air Gear are the same manga, except that Shuuichirou Nagi is O!G's self-image of what he would be like if he was strong as a youth, and Itsuki is O!G's self-image of what he would be like if he was successful and popular as a youth. The side characters are the true self-inserts. Mitsuomi and Nike are his psychotic rage, which is kept underneath the surface by his immense cowardice, represented by Sora and Sohaku. Masataka represents how he really was with the girls: unsuccessful (despite redeeming qualities in his opinion) and with a tiny dick. The "tiny dick" is reflected onto Ikki, and Bob represent the black mandingo O!G really wants, in more than one way. Aeon is Ogure's attempt to rationalize his homosexual impulse as "cool" and "okay". In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with being homosexual but it's a struggle for the already fucked up O!G. Kazu represents his inferiority complex, compounded by the successful Ikkis of the world who've tortured him deeply. Ringo, Aya, Simca, and Maya represent the women he never had. It's obvious in how overly sexually the characters get displayed. There are also undertones (well, not really) of pedophilia in those drawings, which is a very serious problem in the two manga. Freya is obviously a way to sate his beastial tendencies. Let's not forget that EVERYONE in TenTen is related and knows it, and yet, they're boning like rabbits. I think O!G might be into incest as well.

I disagree. I like the Uchiha clan and the eyehax. I don't like the fact that nobody acts like a fucking ninja in a manga about... ninjas, excluding Shikamaru, Kakashi, and Part I's Sasuke.

As far as the whole "Uchiha vs. Senju" overarch, it fits the ninja setting well. Two rival clans hate each other, lulz ensue. The whole "ZOMG HAATEEEEE HATTEEE!"thing's retarded, though. "OMG HHHHAAAATTEE IS GENETIC!!!!". =/ Coulda just been, ya kno, A) Itachi dies, B) Sasuke hates leaf Village, C) Sasuke attacks.
