Due to a recent series of circumstances, Ariel has developed synesthesia. This means that when she hears sounds, she mentally associates them with colours. Each note and sound has a different colour, and represents a different thing to her. As such, when she hears a riders tune, not only does she hear his musical score but she sees a pattern of lights. When tuning, she seeks to match the score of the rider to that of the AT, like all other tuners. But what sets her apart is that extra bit of association. Seeking to integrate the light-pattern of the AT to that of the rider, she takes tuning one step further.
Furthermore, Ariel’s method of actually tuning is different that of other tuners. While Ariel is certainly a skilled mechanic, capable of using her hands to produce instantaneous results, she prefers to operate on AT’s through a means of proxy mechanics. Rather than use her own hands, Ariel has built a small brigade of little, mechanical fairies, that fly around and do her bidding. At the center, Ariel commands the actions of these mechanical fairies with her saxophone. The saxophone, engineered by Ariel, acts the strings connecting Ariel, the puppet master to her little mechanical fairies.

Her hair seems to naturally frame her, falling exactly where she wants it to. Naturally happy, Ariel wears a disarming half-smile with ease, and her eyes constantly twinkle with some mischievous light.
Almost always seen in high-heeled boots or heels, Ariel is usually up to date on the latest fashion trends. For her, simplicity is often turned into elegant beauty. Aside from her appearance, Ariel often carries around a tenor saxophone in a greenish-blue case. The saxophone itself is the core of Ariel’s method of tuning. With a black, metal body, golden keys with silver lining, the saxophone mirrors his owner’s elegance.

Rarely does she develop any binding relationships with people, instead viewing the majority of those in her life as disposable. At her core, though, Ariel is a gentle being, with good intentions. Some may consider her to be haughty, but this stems from her natural comfort in any social situation. Even amongst a strange group of people, in an unfamiliar place, Ariel will manage to find connections and appear completely at home in her current surroundings. Her mother, part of a traveling group of Gypsy’s that specialized in entertainment arrived in Germany, and with their performance, she caught the eye of an influential man who happened to be watching. The man, a known womanizer charmed Ariel’s mother, and seduced her successfully. The group, originally planned on staying for only a few weeks in the German state, but the man proved generous, and provided ample luxuries for the entire group, thereby extending their stay. As the relationship between Alyssa, Ariel’s mother, and Kandor, her father, intensified, Alyssa realized that she had to make a decision: hold on to the life of a traveler, or settle down comfortably. The decision was a hard one for her to make, but one that was not nearly as hard for her companions. True to her blood, Alyssa realized that she had to leave. After more than two months of staying with Kandor, Alyssa’s group had grown uncomfortable. Alyssa realized that her connection with her group was far closer than her connection with Kandor, and thus, decided to leave. However, Kandor managed to convince Alyssa to leave their daughter behind. Currently heirless, Kandor sought a child to raise as his own.
Her heart aching, Alyssa left Kandor, and continued with her family, traveling the world, performing for all who would see. Her thoughts would constantly remain with Ariel, and she would visit whenever her troupe’s path crossed Germany’s borders, but from that moment on, Ariel was her father’s responsibility. Head of the Von-Erb conglomerate, Kandor spared no expense in giving his child the best education money could buy. From an early age, Ariel took to music, medicine, and mechanics, and odd combination of choices. But Kandor, who truly loved his daughter, encouraged her to develop her passions. A bright girl, Ariel eventually went on to earn degrees from Stanford and Oxford. Skilled in medicine, she quickly became a doctor, but her real passion lay in AT’s. Both her father and she recognized the potential of the AT technology to solve all sorts of global problems. With the natural gift of a tuner, Ariel investigated AT’s, trying to understand how they worked, and how their technology could be applied to other areas as well.
