Second place: custom usertitle + member of the GFX team + 500 tricks.
Third place: custom usertitle + 250 tricks.

Also, the top three entries will be released with one of our chapters!

how the winner determined an experinced judge, or public voting, or is it some random judge?
cause i always lose competitions because of public voting or nub judges who know nothing about graphic arts.

Only administrators are allowed to judge (Thunderlord and me). The judging will be fair, we both know:

1. How much effort was put into a piece of artwork
2. What styles, filters, tricks, effects were used
3. We notice all the minor details

I agree with you krompt. I like the "stolen kiss" one. Its probably my favorite of those wallapapers. I continued to look at the back grounds page and it rates the backgrounds as well. The stolen kiss is only C+ where as Ikki Bagram is an A. I wonder how the decided.

About the MegaUpload Premium Account:

Usually, you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can download something from MegaUpload, usually 25-45 seconds. Then, you have a limit on how much you can download in a day, usually just a few downloads a day. Also, you usually can not use a download accelerator and the downloads are unstable and the speeds are not very good. But with a premium account, no wait, no limit, fast and stable downloads and speeds, and download accelerators can be used (I got 900 KB/S) on a MegaUpload Premium account.

The "tricks" are based on the Sora Scans points system. The more you post and create threads, the more "tricks" you get. With these tricks you can buy custom effects for the forum (ranks, usertitles, change others usertitles, change username color) and you can also buy non-virtual items once they're avaliable. This feature has not been installed yet, it will be very, very soon.

As long as it is 800 x 600 or bigger and fits the overall standards for a wallpaper. I will extend the deadline if less than 4 people join (by a week or so). If no one else joins, we will have to judge anyways.

if you put the contest off for a month when i get back to school ill design a really trippy one. Im not great with photoshop but i have an idea that i want to put ot good use. either way im gonna make in september with or with out the contest. Can i ahve a prize if you like though.

Quick question- will 1280x800 resolution be accepted? I only ask because my laptop is a widescreen (I'm sure a lot of others' are as well), and it's much easier for a wide wall to fit 800x600 screens than vice versa. Also, if there's less than 6 entries by the end of the deadline, will the prizes still be given? I think that extending the deadline would be a bit pointless, but maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I'm just starting mine from scratch- all my walls are original works so as you can imagine, they take a while to make. So replies are much appreciated~

Gah, I thought this might happen.

5 different people judged this contest; ages ranging from 16-29 and people with all kinds of computer graphics skills. This contest was very hard to judge since a lot of them were good, so that's why I'm releasing all of them with our release.

.Kayos, we all understand that you can produce very cool/pretty computer graphics and we respect the effort you put into this piece.

What you said isn't very nice, so please stop. Or you may receive an infraction.

i know nothing about graphics but one thing i couldnt see is the air gear content in .kayos's piece O.o...or i just couldnt recognise the girl...
It might be true that I would have rated differently but that doesnt mean that it would have been better. And I bet that posting them on 2 different graphic site would result on 2 different outcome... thats my opinion and i meant no offense !

lol at aeonsky cool/pretty, mine was more techincal then pretty, if you wanted to judge by looks and vibe sora takes it, the wallpaper by ichoku consists of 2 renders/stocks some gradients and scanlines and terrible text, what baffles me is what do you see in it. People usally lose competions because of lack of flashyness, that one is not flashy or lack of skill ie pentooling/default work, dont see any of that either. Don't get me wrong i knew i wasn't gunna win lol, i talked to my friend about when i was making it. im glad that i got 2nd place, im not asking for it, im just wondering why the low ratings and why is he in first place, all i want is explantions

There isn't much to explain. Your score was averaged down to what it is now. We will hold more contests in the future, I would like it if you would join another one again.

P.S. - I'm not gonna give out the scores that the averages were averaged from.

And to settle this, at least a little, I'm gonna release 164 very soon.

But its just not right to criticize somebody you hardly know, you even said some harsh words to the judges.,the judges have their own taste in things., If you think that the judging is so unfair, why dont you be the judge on upcoming contest's.. And this contest is not all about who's good or who's better., the main point of this is to foster friendship and RESPECT..

I just wanted to say, I'm grateful for everyone who submitted entries. Guys, when we judged these we held no bias towards anyone, we judged as fairly as can be, I'm sure everyone judged differently and the ratings are a mixture of everyones thoughts an opinions put into one number. Like I said, again, thank you for everyone who submitted works, and sorry if you some of you didn't like the ratings but I think we did it fairly. Like people say, if you don't like the result try again, or something like that :)

Again, I appreciate everyones effort! If I made a wallpaper I'm sure I would have gotten my *** handed to me ;) just been busy making websites for picky clients.
