ok i am new on this forum so it will be my first topic

how do you think will be ther a season2 for the anime ?

smoosh
08-19-2007, 07:30 AM
its kinda not likely...seeing how abruptly they ended the anime....plus there is even a petition going around somewhere to try to get a season 2 so it must be that the producers dont really want to continue it i guess..:(

ScorP

The manga is really good i think if even can be the smae lv as naruto.bleach, onepiece, but it is only if season 2 will come out
becouse msot of peopels dont read the manga :(

It probably didn't do well because of the budget it was given in the first place. Considering how low-budget and frankly bad the animation and some of the casting was in the anime, it probably failed to appeal to the crowd over there that watches anime. Remember, manga is largely read by adolescents, but anime, with the exception of late-night series, is watched by younger people. So an anime has to stand on its own ground to gain enough popularity for a television network to want to give it a slot. Air Gear lost its slot because it wasn't good enough quality to support itself against other series of its type on TV. so if no network wants to give a slot for season 2, there's not going to be a season 2.

I don't know when will it ever be out or been planned to be released. So far there aren't any news about it. Anyway, I'm not going to watch it since it's way back than the manga itself... maybe I'll watch it for personal fun. :D

To me, i see this in the same light as Fruits basket. When their budget came to end, they found the next "high point" in the series to finalise the show on. I can't see a second series happening, though i'd love it as much as any other person.

We can but hope?

I started out watching the anime, and I got through the first season before I began to read the manga. The manga was better than the anime, and it's a lot further along, so even if they do start up the new season, I'll only watch certain episodes.

tekkadark
08-20-2007, 10:28 PM
the manga is alot better, because it had time to gahter momentum and drawn people in. there is also alot more you can do with drawing, that is not as easy to animate.

form what i understand, the series was sorta canceled, it didn't actually draw enough of a crowd so the prduction was cut short, they were going to make it longer but it jsut didn;t sell enough, so they ahd to end it. kinda sad, they could have done alot with the anime :(

Oh Great! will not be making a second season. Thats just the way he does things. He always ends it so you will be wanting more. That way he brings more people to his manga. He did the same thing with Tenjho Tenge, another of his popular mangas. Unfortunately its his own business trick.

^Agreed... Well... we have to let the manga keep coming as we enjoy the story. Watching the anime was rather refreshing to me as well. If season 2 really had been released in near future... I wonder what will be it's OP and ED song? :D

Well... right now I wonder who will Ikki choose to be his partner.

The manga would be an awesome thing to come up with. But the end of the anime was very diferent from the manga, as many other things.
Well, still we don't know if it'll came up we can read the manga.
And this is something I wanna know a lot. With who he'll be in the end.

Fredegart
08-22-2007, 02:50 PM
In fact it's strange.
By the going of the story at the past few chaps I thought the manga it would end up very soon.
But with the current situation (the last 5 chaps) I guess it can last more than I had expected.
There's so much things to happen and so much 'fights'.
Now all I can do is wait, but danm... I really wanna know whats ahead.

08-24-2007, 10:30 PM
Sure it does...
But the story in the manga it's far better.
The anime changed things that didn't needed.
Well... It was cool anyway...
Air Gear is great in every aspect!

yea tahts definatly true.

anime did a decent enough job as an sorta alternate retelling of the manga.

airgear is deifnatly cool on all fronts, i just wish the anime went alil further into the plot, i think they could have had a better point to which to cut off the series.

Sat and thought about this for a day or so but best we in the USA can do is write Adult Swim and see if we can get them to run the 25 eps on Saturday night on the cartoon network. Lets face it money talks and if there is a market they will make more. Any thoughts on this? I started with the anime but moved on to the manga to see how far Ikki could go and have yet to be let down with the story.

yeahhhhhh because that way the publicity will get a lot more higher and people's opinions might push the production of another season

Well, season 2 will only happen in two ways, and mostly it happens because there are many requests from fans.

Fredegart
08-28-2007, 07:11 AM
True...
I guess there are many requests.
Maybe they could release cause of that.
I hope so.

Katsuomori
08-28-2007, 12:01 PM
^Well, I think from the number of request from fans and how far the manga had gone and which part of the manga that the anime had stopped at... I think they'll be making one but no idea when... perhaps, at the planing part or maybe the anime producer is busy with the other projects of which they think benefits them the most.

Crimson Phoenix
08-28-2007, 04:31 PM
I sincerly hope there will be a second season... the first really did leave things unfinished... and the manga covers so much more... it'd be a shame to end it where they did if you ask me.

Katsuomori
08-31-2007, 04:59 AM
^Yeah, from how far did the manga left behind, the anime is way back slow. I'm sure that there's more episodes for the anime to show based on the manga. I mean the anime just stopped at the end of the Akira's battle... that was like so way long ago in the manga. :D

Maybe they are just waiting for most of the Tricks to be released...

There's was a second season for Tenjo Tenge (another Oh! Great's work) and possibly a second season for Air Gear. Likewise, it depends on the market and the request from fans. However, it might just stopped at the second season. As for the movie... it's not confirmed to be one yet.

if they wanted to make a season 2, they best be prepared to make a season 3-6+ to continue until the manga is finished which doesn't look like its gonna happen anytime soon. the anime ended like crap but you know how could it be a true anime if the ended didnt disappoint thousands of people.

The anime doesn't always suck compared to the Manga. My favorite 2 examples are these: FLCL & S-cry-ed.

Why? - FLCL is an awesome 6 episode series. There are so many laughs that I always have to sit down to watch it. The manga... is a bit different than the anime. I dislike the short ending. The relationship between a lot of people didn't seem like it got finished and I just didn't enjoy as much as the show. Not to say it wasn't bad. I did like the more interaction between Naota and Nin (shortening her name) as they are both infected with the Medical Mechanical monsters. But, just the Anime had the better closing.

S-cry-ed is similar to that but I liked the Manga overall better. But, the anime's ending to me was way better written and shown than the manga. The whole deep space 9 trip just got a little too far fetched for me. They kept fighting. I like that ending. So very simple and so powerful as you watch Kazuma duke it out in the end.

I think the anime has the potential of still being pretty great (regardless of staying a single season. Sometimes questions left unanswered are better than crappily handled ones...)

I think the whole reason they aren't going to do a second season is because they didn't get enough viewers. I think the manga was way better ne way but it would have been nice to see Ikki v.s. Ringo on the anime at least.

9taileddemon
02-19-2008, 02:29 AM
Well part of the reason is probably because of material necessary to make a second season.

I mean they went through 100 chapter in 26 episodes. They would need to wait at least to a much higher chapter number for material if they even wanted to make a second season let alone a longer one.

I bet they might eventually make a second season but it will still be awhile before that occurs. Maybe this time they will be able to figure out how to slow down.

Perhaps the reason they sped through it so fast (Something that pissed of a lot of people I noticed.) was because the "battle" with Trident was one of the very few spots that they would have been able to stop at without completely making people riot. It had a pretty good ending spot for the course of the anime but to end their with the limited amount of episodes they were alotted and low budget it ended up not being that great. If they do make a second season I hope they will try to not do that again.

This is exactly what I've been thinking. If they are making or thinking of making a second season, then they have to wait AT LEAST 100 chapters. The last episode of the anime is chapter 103 of the manga, and the newest chapter is currently 201.

Add to the fact that since they are doing it this way, it's pretty much GUARANTEED to be filler free unlike Bleach and Naruto where as soon as they catch up to the manga they are forced to make fillers. I would not be surprised if they announced something this fall. Let's hope.

mitchello_man

I don't understand why so called fans of Air Gear hate the anime. If you watch the dub by ADV, it is bad ass. They don't leave out one swear, or any glimpse of Simca's love handles. Plus, in a personal note, i believe its one of my favorite dubs ever. If it were possible to bribe the animators and author into making a second season, I would offer over 1 million bucks, if i had the cash. They have so much to build on and explain which is why they should make another season. It would be dumb to just leave it be. My hopes is that by 2009 or 2010 they will make the 2nd season. Until then, i will not give up on it. Does anyone know about any petitions concerning the 2nd season?

Just because we are fans of Air Gear doesn't mean we have to kiss every crap that's made about Air Gear. The anime was made in 2006 and the animation was putrid and its quality was 2003 at best. It had a excellent cast (Japan) and Soundtrack though in my opinion.

And the Dub has swear words in it because English Dub company finally realized without swear words, they turn every anime they dubbed into kiddie crap. And they only showed Simca's "Love Handles" because the ADV dubbed Air Gear only in DVDs, not intended for TV Broadcasting. And Air Gear Dub is one of the best dub in your opinion? Seriously??! Just because it has swear words in english and it showed some clevage and asslines here and there?

And Finally Oh!Great made it CLEAR that he doesnt want anime company to complete his series (Tenjou Tenge & Air Gear). He merely wanted to use Anime!Version of his works as a advertisements so people would want to buy the manga and read it. This was the reason why Anime companies who worked on Tenjou Tenge and Air Gear, received low fundings hence the low qualities of the anime.

A good dubbed anime series would be Fullmetal Alchemist.

On the other hand, I would like to see a second season, although as said before, I doubt there will be. I guess the way the anime ended was to leave an open end for anyone who enjoyed watching it and move onto the manga.

I much less want to see a second season as I would like to see the anime completely restarted. Due to whatever issues plagued its production, the anime seemed like absolute trash to me (I started reading the manga first, so I'm a little biased). For a manga as well articulated and executed as Air Gear, I really felt that the anime needed to be much, much better to even begin to parallel the manga's epic win. As unlikely as it is to actually happen, I still really hope that someone decides to take another shot at making a good Air Gear anime.... it's the least a manga of this caliber deserves.

I would imagine that they would of thoguht of creating a second season because they havnt yet explained a whole bunch of things that have happened, like the Genesis v Sleeping Forest and also about other kings etc.
The anime was quite good as far as im concerned even if it had a low budget because it didnt have any filler crap or wasted stuff in it. There still could be another two seasons, but i spose it will be like tenjou tenge and perhaps they will just do some ovas, hopefully not though.

I started watching the Anime First, it was not as bad as some people make it out to be... although i do agree that once you read the manga, the anime goes down a few notches. Even still i wouldnt go so far as to call it trash. The anime is a good intro to get people started at reading the manga. Also i'd like to see a follow up season to the anime. Maybe with the increased interest brought about by the manga and its readers, the animators will be more inspired to create a better version of the anime.

Honestly, i dont really go around looking for manga to read so the anime versions of the different manga gives people like me a chance to see first what looks interesting before devoting the time to actually reading it. Also you can't expect an anime to be as detailed as the manga, there are a lot of processes to making an anime and its quite expensive as well. So writing a book or a manga will tend to be a bit more detailed.

Its just the same as when they make movie adaptations of books, the books are always better but at the same time the movie gets people interested to learn more and they go out to read the book :) thats just my take on things.

It would also be nice to see some of the tricks in action too :P

I also began watching the anime. I have read up to around 200 of the manga. I know this may seem weird, but i did like the anime more. I'm a big reader although it is my first manga, so it's not that i don't like reading.

I just love the soundtrack i love the animation. And being a freerunner i love the concept. I had heard from somebody that i second series would be released, although i guess that must be rumours. I'm a little confused why people complain and don't do anything about it. If peopel want it so bad, why aren't you making a petition and posting it on every AMV on youtube and every forum. There are many like minded people, it wouldn't be too hard to get a nice big one going.

some people already make petition about it
but has no effect since anime is just promo tools for OG to promote his manga
he does that with other series such as tenjou tenge

why does people want to force the author to create the 2nd season
when the author doesn't want to
drawing manga is an art to the author and it's also his choice of creativity
why people have to force him to do something that he doesn't want to ?

isn't this againts Human Rights ?
the rights of choosing to do what a person wants in legal context not involving vandalizing things

btw

I laugh to those who make petition so hard...BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Yea...like Oh great draws the anime >_> get your facts straight before making fun of people.

All they need is his permission and they license the AG name and a second season is possible, no one "Forces" him to do anything

What is all this human rights nonsence your'e spewing?

Exactly.

Animating some of the scenes would actually be really interesting. For example the Battle Between Orca and Agito/Lind? Or maybe Spitfire/Aeon/Kazu vs. Sora/Nike? These would be some really interesting fights. Even Ikki vs. Ringo! Imagine the awesomely animated chaos that would occur if they decided to make a Season 2. xD

Exactly, and if a season 2 is made, they need to overhall the art like code geass and make better quality art, i was rewatching old eps and noticed only scenes with simca had good animation

This is funny... Honestly NO ONE wants to force OG to do anything they dont want, rather a petition or whatever u want to call it simply shows that there is a great interest in their work and MAYBE they might want to continue the serries or MAYBE someone else wants to get the license and continue where they left off.

YOU CANT FORCE ANYONE to make an Anime BUT you can show that there is profit in it and let Capitalism play its role. (not at the expense of quality i hope)

The first one just failed terribly.

Battle scenes are worth the animation.
So why are they still not starting anything already??

I dont know why they just dont make another season, but i guess it could be that Air Gear if continued as an anime would end up like bleach, one piece or Naruto that being an anime with like 300 episodes. Also the end of the first season was shit, where the hell did all of ikki's friends come from they were in like kyoto! So everyone magically new ikki was gonna do the jump?

Personally, (probably since I started with the manga) I think the anime sucked... I really didn't like how far it went out of the storyline of the manga, and frankly didn't like the dubbed voices. The tricks like wallrides, and even plain 'runs', look much more interesting in the manga, cause they're not just running straight up the wall. (Magaki did this) I know buccha did his 1800 wallride-thingy like the manga, but it was just...meh.

I stopped halfway through episode 4, It hurt to go any further.

I just don't like the anime in comparison to the manga. :erf:

i thought that both the anime and manga was good. sure they might have deviated a little bit from the story line, but does it really matter? look how far fullmetal alchemist deviated, and that was still a good show. as far as seasons go, they easily have another 2 seasons to go, if you just including them training for the gram scale leading up to the wind regalia being stolen, and then the third season being the gram scale

i seen the anime before i started reading the manga. I like the anime but you are right they could have done more with it since the manga goes so far beyond. i think that they could make a good series if they kept going with it. the manga has so much more to offer though.

Emiya Kojiro
03-23-2010, 12:03 AM
I totally agree with you, liquidstorm. Air Gear may get a little confusing later on, but I think that could be fixed if the rest was ever animated. I hate that there are some series that do not deserve to have more seasons made, but get it anyway. (FMA: Brotherhood for example. I personally didn't think FMA was great. It was good, but I don't think it was one of the best series ever. Why the heck does that series exist when the first series finished up just fine? It feels like DBGT all over again. This is only my opinon people. Don't flame me for not thinking like everone else.)

I also think there were a lot of great series that got cut short on their anime runs. Stuff like Berserk for example. That is one series that gets extremely good later on, but the anime got stopped at basically the first part of the manga. I am just surprised that as many people that I have talked to that list Tenjou Tenge as one of their favorite series have never even bothered with or even knew of Air Gear.

Because it's not a second season... it's a remake. The first "season" was not done following the manga and this time around it follows the manga. Which has a plot 100x better than the original anime plot, btw.

As for staying on topic, Air Gear would be an awesome second season since you get all the cool tricks after it ended lol.

Don't hold it against me, burnedalive. lol. I haven't had time to look up all the stuff about it. Life has kinda had it's moments lately where it's been throwing more important issues my way. (Working, moving across the country, and such things.) I don't have enough time to keep track of all the stuff surrounding a series like I used to. I'll give FMA: Brotherhood another chance, then. If it follows the manga, then I will definitely have to keep watching it. Thank you for at least filling me in on that.

I completely agree with you on a lot of the cooler tricks showing up later on. I would love to see some of those animated. That and all the cool fights that take place later on.

off topic: fma brotherhood may be the best anime i've ever watched. If not, its second.

on topic: I believe that fma got an anime originally because it was popular and this would make money+advertise for the manga, which it did both things very well. It had an alternate storyline, probably to avoid fillers. Then we get brotherhood, which sticks to the story probably because brotherhood and the manga can end around the same time with no fillers or breaks. This was an extremely smart move on the mangaka's part (or whoever makes the decisions) and Air Gear COULD reasonably do this still with the same reasoning. Maybe when AG gets close to its end they'll bring out the rest of the anime completely filler-free, which would be amazing.

I have to disagree with you on that. Until we see how AG ends, it isn't right to compare the two as far as manga adaptation goes.
