Sai was born on Seto Island, which is a small island and not very well known. As a child, he found interest in the strategic board game go. He could have aimed to become pro, but a car accident that took his parents away from him stopped it. Sai wasn't there when it happened, but only heard the story through the words of others. Because of this, he became quite introverted as a child. He spent a lot of time by himself and gained another interest in the world of music.
When he was about to start middle school, he and his relatives moved to Tokyo, where they hoped he would get a new start and forget the past. Thanks to outside influences, Sai managed to open up more than he thought he could of. He made small changes and so became a different person. However, the past couldn't be erased that easily and he is still naturally reflective and quiet. But now he is more easygoing and doesn't mind helping others whenever he can.
When he entered high school, he discovered the world of AT. He saw some upperclassmen competing and it seemed like fun. He asked around and he gradually gained knowledge about AT's. After saving up enough money from his allowance and his part-time, he bought his first pair of AT's. After learning by himself, he has gained enough experience to do basic AT manuevers.

Sai stretched out his arms as he awoke from a good nap. He had sleeping on top of a branch of a sakura tree. It was a habit of his. He looked around. It was 4 in the afternoon. When Sai looked at his cellphone for the time, he remembered that he had to get to his part-time now. His job started in 5 minutes. It was lucky that he had woke up just now. A normal person would think he would be late, but that was not the case. Taking out his AT's, he put them on and rode with the wind as he sped off to his job with a light smile on his face.
