Pro or against. if you dont know what it is it like assisted suicide for those whose lives are at that point. People who can move or talk and are in constant pain. I dont believe in Euthanasia personally because you are taking a human life but to these people its not like drepression where you can say thing will get better and have the courage to live. these people dont have anything better to look forward to except a long and painful death. But i think the most prominent issue is how to do you decide for someone who his on constant drugs has made and informed decision on whether or not to kill themselves. even those in constant pain will do anything to make the pain stop even dying. Before they really think through the consequences of their actions. and should they decide to kill themselves is that something that must be left up to the doctors. Doctors live to save lives would doctors really be alright killing their patients. What are you guys opinions? and girls?

I think it would depend on the situation i mean come on naturally u want everything that can be done to save someone

But there are times when todays medicine can not help someone and doctors know there is no chance for them to live short of a miracle . So in that situation i would say let the person decide. For example if i knew i would die and there was nothing that could be done to save me and i was in constant pain I would want to choose to die peacefully by my choice

I wouldn't want my family watching me die a slow and painful death So just die in the most peaceful way possible

But the problem is the mental state of the patients...it may seem impossible to recover thsu they dont think that the remaining time is precious...if i would be in the situation i would rather make my last years or days as memorable as possible rather than give into it...but again maybe in that state i would think differently...the problem that after its done u can change ur decision...
And doctors really shouldnt take the lifes of others...its againts their ethics
One more thing...the human nature that he uses any means necessery to achieve something and sadly im sure that euthanasia could become an easy way to kill a person even againts his own will....

Well I believe in it because as your sitting there with a terminal illness your only becoming a financial as well as emotional burden on your family. I rather follow how Oregan does and issue a pill to a terminally ill patient and they may use the pill but stats have shown that the majority of the people who apply for those pills never used them. Still I would like the choice.

Personally, I am for euthanasia. I know that if I was ever in a coma, I'd want to stop wasting precious resources and money and be allowed to die. That's why I plan on making a written statement on my decision once I'm married and such, so that it's not disputed. That's a personal choice, though I know I'd hate to see my family hooked up to machines if there was no chance of them getting better.

While I think it's a personal choice, I also believe that people who allow their comatose loved one to perpetuate their "life" despite the impossibility of them getting better are being selfish. Which isn't surprising, because it's a very emotional thing. Still, I feel as though the person would rather pass, though I know I'm biased because that's how I would feel. Hospital beds could be put to better use, in my opinion.

hmm i think it should be left for the patients wants but if he can pull through then the doctors should help them and not kill them and keep convincin them to live but if lifes too much to bare then its mostly upto their choices since they will die later on any way..

Yeah but sometimes the patient isn't in a mentally clear state of mind, and hence are deemed not to be able to make such desicions. then comes the real problem; what should the family members do?

personally, for me i'd prefer for them to pull the plug; medical expenses are a killer, especially if its for long-term; I don't want to be a burden on my family members.

I am for it.

One might ask why, well, I see it as this. It is their life, I don't care about the situation, and I think the final answer should be left to the person. I see it as, if someone can really be ready to face whatever is after death, why not let them?

I think my liberal side might be what gives my opinion on topics like this, but power to the people!

omg... this is the question we were asked in our philosophy class...

I would say... if the person is in a lot of pain and really wants to die... then yes.
I mean, it's not even called life anymore if you are in constant pain (and the medicine doesn't help) and you can't enjoy anything...
