it's basically about a girl named Haruhi who is a freshman in high school and is interested in weird occurances like alien, time-travelers and espers. It is revealed that she has the ability to warp the space time contineum with her emotins, more specifically baredom or stress. She creates a club made of a time traveler, and esper, a alien, and a boy named Kyon (the narrator). The point of the club is to keep her entertained at all times and make sure she does not get bored. All during this time Huruhi is oblivious to her abilities and the truth about the people around her.

^ Yeah... the first time that I've seen the first episode of the anime... I thought that there must be a mistake in my DVD or what. I mean... I really thought that I've got the wrong anime or maybe there was some episodes before that first episodes... I don't know... I got paniced until I watched further and realized that it was some sort of SOS made movie.

Anyway, in overall prospective of mine... this anime and manga is one unique anime in many sorts of ways. I was rather fond of seeing Haruhi's wacky ideas to attract more members and admire her determination to find some extrateresstrials (though it's actually by here side all this while). Poor Mikuru... lol

Unique indeed... well, it's the first time (for me) to ever encounter an anime that has more storyline than the manga. In other words, the anime is more than the manga unlike the other anime which manga is usually more than it's anime.

The order is something like...
2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9. But watching in that order would probably leave you with a different feeling at the end.

i think this show's overrated.
haruhi was one interestingly weird girl.
it's good for some laughs but i'm afraid that's all there is for me.

Well, to be honest, in my opinion, it wasn't good at all. I mean, I watched it all, and I guess there were a "few" good parts, but not that great. Also don't ask me, "If you don't like it, why'd you watch it?" Simple answer, I watch whatever my brother plays after he downloads them.

It is indeed unique, like a different concept... Though the way they arrange the episodes is a little confusing... Overall, it is a wonderful anime.. They have nice and catchy songs and i like the character designs.. Everybody in the anime is special and has something cool about them...

I was reading the manga, the first original version before the re-write, and I thought that it was only mildly interesting. I then read through the newer version and immediately wrote the entire thing of as yet another EVA attempt. I didn't even give the anime the time of day. Besides the only "good thing" about it was the silly karaoke openings/endings.

Besides NHK & EDEN had my un divided attention at the time. ^^

If they do a season two, i hope they include some of the chapters they missed out from the previous books.

The festival wishes are hinted in one of the episodes in season one and i want to see Kyon go back in time (hinting that one of the reasons Haruhi chose him was because she had met him once before.)

This might sound stupid coming from a huge Haruhi-fan, but I really do agree. The whole Haruhiism cult is a little lame, and Hare Hare Yukai is the worst offender. Sure, it's a catchy song and cute little dance, but otaku blow it out of proportions trying to learn the dance and everything. But nonetheless, I really like it, especially the novels.

But we'll see in 4 hours and 25 minutes. I've got a fuckload of spare time because I caught a really nasty cold, so yeah....

KyoAni is a group of assholes, but sometimes they manage to deliver. And the ED is actually better than HHY, imo. And no retarded dance either. Must have taken balls from KyoAni to not put another dancing ED in there, knowing all hardcore fans were waiting for a new skit to learn.

Overrated or not, I've been waiting for this for three years, so I think I'm allowed to cheer. Episode was really nice. A huge amount of Mikuru over-cuteness though.

Rushing through Endless Eight in one episode would have been retarded. At least next episode will be awesome, when they reveal the catch.

Ugh. Am I the only one watching this shit? You'd think someone else would be on it, as it's almost as mainstream as Shonen Jump.

Anyway, great episode. I'd say this is one of the 5 best Haruhi episodes. Man that Kyon was such a suave little mofo, and Koizumi's as gay as always. The part when they revealed what the hell was up with everything felt downright creepy. They did manage to set the mood pretty well. I was really worried how KyoAni would respond to the massive hype, but they've been doing pretty well. This episode was definitely excellent.

Started watchign the anime i was like wth, might as well since i dont have anything else to do. EP 2 was important but cant denied the fact that it was a bit dry. I kinda noticed that the seiyus dont sound exactly the same compared to the first season, but then again its mostly Mikuru's voice that I am noticing and Haruhi seems less wat u would say an adjective that relates to the noun for a female dog. Overall good quality anime but the fact they are mixing season 1 with 2 and presenting it is pissing me off this non chronological presentation is kinda pissing me off too (not as much compared to when i was watching Rental Magica)
