A-T Information: The ATs that Tarsu wears are of a simple grey, with a few black stripes running down the sides. He makes no real effort to make sure that they look all right, and as such, they generally have a few scuffs on the sides. However, he does make certain to keep them in proper working order.

Appearance

Eye Colour: Brown
Hair Colour: Black
Skin Tone: Lightly tanned
Height/Weight: 6’2” / 205 lbs
Blood-type: A
Overall Appearance: Tarsu was never a small child, and that shows even now as he stands well above most of his peers. He liked to be outside, and this has shown in both his size and his tanned skin. In addition, he enjoys working out, which is also shown on his body, with his arms and legs both being quite built. He works for what he’s got, and plans to only grow stronger with time.

Tarsu’s face is still young, but is becoming what one would call ruggedly handsome. His features are rather angular, and the dark hair that falls about his face adds a degree of mystery. His clothing for his upper torso generally consists of sleeveless shirts of any number of colors, as he doesn’t particularly care what they look like. Not exactly picky in terms of clothing for his lower torso, he generally wears baggier jeans, which give him a fair amount of freedom of movement. This is, of course, not during school hours, where he wears the school uniform with some semblance of pride, having been on multiple sports teams.

When riding, his attire is very much the same as when he’s in his free time, save the addition of his ATs, and one additional piece of equipment. He wears a mask that seems to be made of metal or plastic, which covers the entirety of his face, save two rectangular slits for the eyes, and another set for the mouth. The mask is blank and featureless, which can unnerve people.

Fears: Tarsu’s single greatest fear is being paralyzed. Being active is a part of his everyday life, and if he were to lose that, he doesn’t know what he’d do. Injuries can heal, but paralysis isn’t something he could get around.

Goals: Right now, Tarsu’s only real goal is to push forward with everything he’s got and climb the ranks in the world of AT. He’s found other sports to lack the excitement that AT holds, and goes after it with an unending tenacity.

Overall Personality: Tarsu’s first recognizable trait is that he holds a great deal of confidence, both in himself and those he has chosen as his friends. He has performed in a lot of sports teams in school, from football to baseball, and has succeeded at each of them. That has given him a bit of a big head and an arrogance to match. He’s skilled and knows he’s skilled, which makes him a dangerous opponent. However, the fact that he overestimates his own abilities tends to cause some issues for him.

But despite his size and body type, he is far from an idiot, something that many people tend to assume when first meeting him. At a young age, before his mother would let him go outside, he was introduced to books of all kinds, which caused his mind to expand. In addition, he took lessons with both piano and violin, though he’s long since given up on the violin in preference of the piano, and has even done a few recitals. His mind is fairly expansive, which tends to throw people off that presume he’s just a dumb jock.

His confidence can get the best of him, especially if he ends up accepting a challenge where he has a disadvantage. He likes to succeed, and to win, and while it’s not uncommon for him to win at normal sports, he was defeated quite soundly during his first use of AT. Due do that, he feels strongly about the ATs, and wants to prove that he can do it more than anything else, now. Tarsu’s drive comes from somewhere deep inside, and he has yet to step back on something that he’s given his all to, and this is just another step for him.

HISTORY

Birthplace: Tokyo
Birthdate: October 4th
Birthtime: 2:13 a.m.
Parents: Katsu and Saya Takuhara, both still living
Siblings: Kaijiru, younger brother

Overall History: Tarsu is a bit of an interesting sort. The young man, as stated, was never small, and has never really known what it is like to be small. Even as a child, he was usually a head taller than the rest, and he had no qualms with pushing others around to achieve his own ends. However, after his mother had found out about it, she’d chastised him thoroughly, and had then started her son on books and music, to broaden his horizons about things.

Though he didn’t like the change at first, Tarsu soon found a great enjoyment in the arts, and became a voracious reader, finding any and all books to read on any subject he could manage. He was quite intelligent, but it was usually shadowed by his size, and that has led to him growing irritable when anyone immediately assumes he has a lack of intelligence due to his size.

His father wasn’t all for his son being a shut-in, and when Tarsu was older, he invited the boy to watch a friendly football game that Katsu was having with some friends. The boy agreed, and had taken a book, but had quickly put it down in favor of watching the sport. Afterwards, he had explained the concept of a team sport to Tarsu, that he could, and should, rely on others for their own strengths and abilities. If he could do that, then he’d be allowed to play with others again. Needless to say, Tarsu readily agreed.

His mother wasn’t exactly pleased with the sudden change in her son’s behavior, but no matter what she tried, the boy wanted to play outside. Katsu had explained to her the idea of the team sport and sportsmanship. Saya finally relented, but gave him a similar speech that his father had, letting him know that this was to teach him how to be kind to others, not an excuse to beat up on people.

As he grew and entered school, Tarsu let his normal personality show, and he made friends fairly quickly, as people liked to be friends with ‘the big kid’ as he was different. He learned quickly to tell what people meant by how they said things, rather than by what was being said, after being hurt a few times by some of the kids he had thought of as friends. He found a few friends that were honest and earnest, and they were the ones he stuck it out with up to High School.

One of them, his best friend, was the one who spoke to him about Air Trecks. Eager to try it, Tarsu borrowed his friend’s pair, and used his friend’s instructions, trying to figure them out as well as he could. However, Tarsu had several accidents, which caused him to come home with several scrapes and cuts on his body. His mother had asked him if he’d gotten into a fight, to which he replied he hadn’t, he was just checking out something new.

After a few separate runs with his friend, Tarsu set about doing odd jobs, mostly manual labor, earning enough money to get his own pair of ATs. His mother, completely against it, tried to stop him, but Tarsu’s mind was set, and Katsu recognized that enough to try to keep his mother out of it as much as possible.

Eventually, he was able to get a pair of basic ATs, and the two of them sought to go about and make themselves known. Rather foolishly, they had challenged a Rank E team to a battle with a few of their other friends, and for the first real time in his life, Tarsu had known defeat. It wasn’t something that he could handle at first, and thought about quitting ATs altogether. But then there was a fire that had been ignited within him, something that he hadn’t felt before.

He wanted to get better. He wanted to win.

He has since found himself ready to start riding for real, and begin working on getting better parts, ones that would hopefully work better with his stature. He wanted to have some that worked better with his powerful style, and climb his way to the top of the ranks. Tarsu had set his sights on the top, and none would stop him.

EXTRA

Extra: Symbolized by a bear

Roleplay Sample:

Tarsu slipped on his ATs as he sat upon his front porch, looking out over the road. The cars drove by lazily, and he saw a few birds fly from one telephone pole to another. Since riding the AT…everything seemed to go by so much slower. He’d felt the speed, the rush from using them, and now everything just seemed…bland.

“Are you going out again?” a voice spoke from behind him; his mother. “I thought you had school today.”

“Nah, not today,” Tarsu spoke, pulling the mask from a satchel at his waist, moving to pull it over his face. The covering was warm already from the sun, but he didn’t mind. “They canceled school this morning due to someone threatening suicide or something over their grades. Apparently in case it went sour they didn’t want the rest of us there.” He stood, then, putting a bit of pressure on the right AT. The wheels turned with relative ease, which was good. They’d gotten pretty messed up in the battle.

He heard his mother sigh. “Well that’s certainly pleasant. You going to meet Jin again?” she asked. There was exasperation in her voice, but Tarsu knew that it was directed at him, not Jinzo. His friend had introduced him to AT, sure, but whenever he came over, he was polite and forward with Tarsu’s parents, and they both treated him like a third son.

“Yeah. We’re going to just ride around town for awhile. It’ll be all right,” Tarsu spoke, turning to face her as he lifted the mask. He knew she didn’t care for it. “I’ve got my phone, and an alarm will go off at six. I’ll be back no later than seven.” He heard her make some sound of acknowledgement, and before she could say anything else that could possibly cause him to have to remain behind, the young man pressed down both of his feet, the ATs beginning to move before propelling him forward.

And what he had told his mother was technically the truth. They were going to ride around for awhile…but they were also going to look for a Storm Rider team to join. He figured he’d have to polish his skills first, but he was going to join one, and help them with his power. They would climb the ranks to S-rank and he would show the world that the defeat wasn’t going to stop him. Tarsu grinned; he was ready.
