How do you get 'er done?
What started as regular tinkering over time became a fixation with understanding how things worked. Everything has a purpose to it and nothing went against that purpose. It was something that she discovered while she was fixing clocks and watches in her free time when she was younger. Her need to fully understand things causes her to completely dismantle them before even attempting to see what's wrong with them. In that respect, she often gets weird looks when it comes to repairing A-Ts. What may look like lust simple destruction is just what people tend to see at the surface while underneath it all, her method allows her to see what imperfections and malfunctions might be occurring with the device. Through the destruction comes understanding and through understanding the rebirth (repair) can begin. After the full dismantling of A-Ts she gains enough of an understanding of each individual part in order to put them back together in a fashion that runs them to what she sees at optimum efficiency.
In the creation of A-Ts, Tsubaki follows a radically different process compared to when she's repairing or optimizing them. She takes a much more traditional almost archaic approach to putting A-Ts together and she doesn't do it anywhere else but home. Within her home, she has a room where she stores various parts and tools along with everything she needs for the ceremony. Since swordsmithing in Japan is very closely related to Shintoism, she wears a Miko outfit that consists of a Purple hakama and a matching purple haori. Only when the A-Ts are complete will she call in the rider who is receiving the A-Ts and presents the devices to them just as if they were receiving a freshly made sword. To perform this part of the ceremony Tsubaki changes her haori and hakama to pure white.

Let's take a closer look...
Tsubaki can usually be seen outside sporting her usual maid outfit which consists of a long-sleeved blue dress that goes down to about two inches below the knees along with a white pinafore with frills at the shoulders, brown knee-high combat boots, black stockings, a black garter, white cuffs with blue cuff links, and a frilly, white hairband. This is what she wears during casual outings and at home with her master. The only time she really wears anything other than her uniform is when she is sleeping and when she is creating a pair of A-Ts. In the frills of her pinafore there are holsters for the four hidden pistols he usually walks around with. Two of those pistols use non-lethal ammunition while the other pair uses live ammunition. On the outer calf section of her boots are holsters one on each boot. The left boot has the screwdriver and the right boot has the wrench.
While she does have hair reaching down to her shoulder blades, there are very few instances for others to see its true length due to her wearing her headband most of the time. While performing her creation ceremony and her presentation ceremony she usually lets down her hair and leaves it held to the back of her head with a purple sash. She is usually seen wearing glasses everywhere she goes. The only exception for this is when she is using her firearms.

Who are you really?
Due to Tsubaki's upbringing she was always treated as a high-class lady (as far as yakuza go anyway), and as such, she speaks with extremely formal language when addressing people. As a maid she realizes manners and a subservient attitude are paramount, so she usually get fairly upset when they are not shown to her or her master. When she gets upset she usually responds to the source of it by pointing her non-lethal pistols at it. This act is usually accompanied by her completely dropping her formal speech in exchange for the very rude, very explicit language she was accustomed to hearing growing up as a child (bottom of the totem pole yakuza aren't polite). When Tsubaki is presented with a new piece of technology her first instinct is to take it apart to see how it works. Most of the time she suppresses the urge to do it automatically due to that being extremely rude and unseemly, but deep down inside when it comes to machines and guns she has just as much fun with them as she did when she was a child. She is very superstitious and becomes very excited whenever she hears urban legends and scary stories. When presented with things she truly enjoys, Tsubaki will display a very child-like personality, much to Kagami's amusement.

How did you get here?
A House Divided
To begin this tale we can't simply get to Tsubaki without first discussing the situation surrounding her birth. Within the Yamanaka Syndicate of Osaka there was an internal conflict brewing after the previous head Yamanaka Gen died. There was Daisuke, Hideo, and Murata who all threw in their bids to become the new head. Before Gen died he was unsure of which one of his children he should name as his successor and as such never had the chance to name one before his untimely demise at the hands of an assassin from the Nakamura Clan.
It was then that the sparks between the three factions of the syndicate truly began to escalate. There were several assassination attempts on the leader of each faction by the others over the course of 3 years, but it wasn't until one fateful night that Daisuke hired a woman by the name Tsukino Yuri that the stalemate between the factions was finally broken. The balance of power between the three factions completely shifted into Daisuke's favor when Yuri successfully assassinated his oldest brother Hideo. The assassination on Hideo was swift and unforgiving as the man was found dead in a hotel room with a bullet wound in between his eyes. There was no evidence and no signs of forced entry. The only thing that was a miss from the crime scene was the missing pin in the shape of a dragon from Hideo's jacket.
With Hideo gone and only two factions left the Yamanaka Syndicate was thrown into complete and utter turmoil. Tensions grew between Daisuke and Murata and the leaderless Hideo faction began to go berserk. Daisuke couldn't afford to waste any time Murata had to die soon for the sake of the syndicate. That was when he ordered his assassin Yuri to take care of last surviving family member. If he wasn't taken care of then a civil war would begin within the syndicate the likes of which would have never been seen before and with the Nakamura Clan keeping an ever watchful eye on them, Daisuke couldn't afford to let the situation get any worse. With Yuri working on the mission, they soon found Murata and several of his men dead. They were all killed by the gunshot wounds from Yuri's rifle as she sniped them from an adjacent building.
Before the clan knew what hit it two leaders were dead and one survived. It was now apparent who was killing the leaders of the other factions, but no one had any proof. It wasn't until Daisuke called a meeting of the syndicate's advisers to discuss the situation at hand along with his ascension to being the head of the syndicate. At the meeting he was seen wearing three dragon pins and was accompanied by a woman with dark red hair. At the meeting he introduced the woman who stood there in a maid uniform as the assassin who successfully killed Hideo and Murata. This was obviously met with a lot of hostility from the advisers and it was something Daisuke expected. After it was said and done he turned around and took his leave while telling them that they were no longer needed on his way out. After which Yuri greeted the men and parted with them soon thereafter.

At the young age of 24 all of his ambitions were now accomplished and he had the syndicate in the palm of his hand. Now all that was left was to look toward the future.
The beginning...
After the hostile takeover of the Yamanaka Syndicate, Daisuke enjoyed his seat of power with his trusty maid and top assassin at his side. Wherever Daisuke was seen, Yuri was always at his side watching over him, protecting him. She was almost like a second shadow for the head of the syndicate and since everyone within the syndicate knew of her abilities, no one dared defy Daisuke. Under his rule, the Yamanaka Syndicate's influence expanded throughout South Osaka until it got to the point that there were two main factions in the area: The Yamanaka Syndicate and the Nakamura Clan.
Two years passed since Yamanaka Daisuke took over the syndicate and tensions were high between the two large factions that had a stranglehold over South Osaka's underworld. The stalemate between the two groups caused various fight to breakout between legmen on both sides. That would not stand for Daisuke. He knew that he had to do something to break this stalemate, but he wasn't sure if Yuri with all of her proven skill would be able to handle the entire Nakamura Clan alone. She was special, but in the end she was still mortal. There had to be another way. It wouldn't have been a problem if there was only another like Yuri. That was when he had the idea. Another Yuri. There was only one way to produce one such as she. With that thought he began to put his plan into action for the sake of securing the syndicate's future, he would have a child with Tsukino Yuri.
A Mother and Daughter Bound By Servitude.
A mere nine months after the conception of his plan, Yuri gave birth to her and Daisuke's daughter. It was a loving moment for Yuri who was only 18 years old when she gave birth to Tsubaki, but it was also loomed over by the dark cloud that was Daisuke's ambition. When he first laid eyes on his newly born daughter, he saw only the future prosperity of his syndicate. With his daughter finally born all that was left was to train her, to groom her, to become a great assassin like her mother in order to break the stalemate with the Nakamuras once and for all. With his maid now his wife and his daughter born the unbreakable shackles surrounding them would work to his bidding and fulfill his wishes.
The Training for the Successor Commences
In Tsubaki's formative years her mother taught her all that there was to know about being an exemplary maid and a ruthless assassin. She was taught everything from sewing clothes to how to properly use firearms all before she was ten years old. It was a strict and painful path for Tsubaki and one that Yuri regretted bringing her into, but she was bound to her husband's will which meant that everything that was done was a necessary evil that was not to be questioned. When Tsubaki was not undergoing training she was treated as a precious commodity and held inside a room where she had access to anything her heart desired at the time. She was always addressed as "Tsubaki-ojou-sama" by anyone in the syndicate that was not her mother or father.
After 5 years of training under her mother, Tsubaki began to show promise as a maid, but more importantly her training as an assassin was almost complete. Things were going smoothly as Daisuke kept a watchful eye over his daughter to make sure she was on the right path. The path of a ruthless assassin that would bring a golden age to the Yamanaka Syndicate. It was around that time that Yuri discovered that her daughter took apart a monitor in her room. When her mother asked her why she did it, Tsubaki told her that she wanted to understand more about how it worked. That was when Yuri discovered that Tsubaki had a talent that not even she was capable of as she witnessed Tsubaki reassemble the monitor before her very eyes. Yuri knew that there was an opportunity for her daughter to live her life outside of the yakuza and all of its dealing, so she did the first real loving things she was able to do for Tsubaki as a mother... she kept Tsubaki's mechanical prowess a secret from Daisuke.
Fruition of Training and The Great Escape
Another five years later Yuri had nothing left to teach her daughter about her trades. Tsubaki was finally ready to fulfill Daisuke's ambition of the conquest of South Osaka. The plan that they spent the last twenty years preparing was finally about to be unveiled to the work. It was truly Daisuke's shining moment where he would be able to show off his prized possessions. That thought filled him with so much glee and so much pride that he almost thought of his family as human beings. Almost.
On the night of the Tsubaki's ceremony to become a fully fledged assassin, she met Takanashi Kagami who attended the event as the physician who was charged with giving her a physical examination. In that time, she was first introduced to the devices known as Air Trecks. Kagami was astounded at how quickly she disassembled and reassembled a pair of A-Ts before his very eyes and figured that there was probably a much better place for her to be than with a bunch of yakuza. That was when Kagami was approached by Yuri to take her daughter away from the Yamanaka Syndicate. Kagami agreed and began to make arrangements for their escape plan.
Word of Kagami trying to flee the syndicate with Tsubaki reached Daisuke's ears. Of course he was none too pleased upon hearing the news and gave the order to kill Kagami on the spot. That was when the war between Kagami and the Yamanaka Syndicate began. Kagami infiltrated their stronghold and managed to get to Tsubaki just for her to receive a gunshot wound to the chest at the hands of her father. If he wasn't going to have her no one else will. Things looked bleak for Tsubaki as she lost consciousness after the pain from the wound sunk in. The last image of her father being one of him holding the smoking gun and looking at her with an expression of disgust.
It was then that the Nakamura Clan infiltrated the stronghold to aid Kagami in one of his most dire situations. Using the confusion of the power struggle between the Nakamura's and the Yamanaka's, Kagami took Tsubaki to a quieter place in the stronghold to administer emergency first-aid. When he got her into a stable enough condition for them to escape he carried her up and out of the stronghold.
This is your story. How will you write it?
When Tsubaki came to, she was at Kagami's new condominium in Kyoto City which was quite a considerable way away from South Osaka. She was in an unfamiliar place, frightened, and unaware of her current situation. As she sat on the bed she recalled the image of her father shooting her and her conversations with Kagami. That was when she knew that she was discarded by her father and that she had no place left in the world to return to. That was when Kagami stepped into the room and explained the situation to Tsubaki. Tears trickled down the woman's face as she felt eternally grateful to Kagami for his actions. That was when she knelt before him and pledged her life to the underground doctor.

With the time she's been living with Kagami she's picked up some knowledge on medicine and takes on the role as his assistant during surgical procedures.

The train ride was a nice little change of pace for the pair and it was really their first bit of R&R they've had together. Kagami took a sip of his bottle of tea and continued to look at his obviously tired maid. It might not have been customary for a maid to go to sleep before the one she was serving, but Kagami didn't mind seeing this side of her. With that thought flowing through his head Tsukino awoke to Kagami staring at her. Her face became flushed as she began to blush at her master witnessing her sleeping face. She quickly sat up and cleared her throat as Kagami turned his head and began to look out the window in order to aid in him feigning ignorance to what he was doing. "F-Forgive my rudeness, but i-is there something wrong, master?" Tsubaki said to Kagami while showing how obviously flustered she was.
"N-No, nothing's wrong, Tsubaki. Although I told you already that you don't need to call me 'master.' Please just call me Kagami as anyone else normally would. Your days at the syndicate are over and you're not obligated to stay with me, so please just try to relax and enjoy the ride." His concern over the whole master-maid thing was clearly shown by the tone of his voice. After hearing what Kagami said, Tsubaki looked at him and let out a sigh. "I'm sorry, but that won't do at all, master. I've pledged my service, my allegiance, and my life to you. That has nothing to do with the syndicate. I just believe that you are a master worth serving which is why my life is now for you. You have single-handedly given my life purpose, a meaning, don't you understand how much that means to me, master?"
Her words pierced him since he's never been in a situation where someone bared themselves to him in such a way. He was a bit embarrassed and became flustered himself. He turned toward the window again and let out a small sigh. "How am I supposed to say anything to that?" Kagami muttered to to himself. "Fine. If that makes you feel better or more comfortable, then proceed as you see fit." Kagami said in a tone that showed that he had been defeated in the argument. Tsubaki smiled as she clapped her hands together and looked at the almost empty bottle of tea in the rider's hand. "Would you like another bottle of tea, master?" She said cheerfully as awaited an answer or an order from her master.

The path of a ruthless assassin that would bring a golden age to the Yamanaka Syndicate. It was around that time that Yuri discovered that her daughter took apart a monitor in her room. When her mother asked her why she did it, Tsubaki told her that she wanted to understand more about how it worked. That was when Yuri discovered that Tsubaki had a talent that not even she was capable of as she witnessed Tsubaki reassemble the monitor before her very eyes. Yuri knew that there was an opportunity for her daughter to live her life outside of the yakuza and all of its dealing, so she did the first real loving things she was able to do for Tsubaki as a mother... she kept Tsubaki's mechanical prowess a secret from Daisuke.
Fruition of Training and The Great Escape
Another five years later Yuri had nothing left to teach her daughter about her trades. Tsubaki was finally ready to fulfill Daisuke's ambition of the conquest of South Osaka. The plan that they spent the last twenty years preparing was finally about to be unveiled to the work. It was truly Daisuke's shining moment where he would be able to show off his prized possessions. That thought filled him with so much glee and so much pride that he almost thought of his family as human beings. Almost.
On the night of the Tsubaki's ceremony to become a fully fledged assassin, she met Takanashi Kagami who attended the event as the physician who was charged with giving her a physical examination. In that time, she was first introduced to the devices known as Air Trecks. Kagami was astounded at how quickly she disassembled and reassembled a pair of A-Ts before his very eyes and figured that there was probably a much better place for her to be than with a bunch of yakuza. That was when Kagami was approached by Yuri to take her daughter away from the Yamanaka Syndicate. Kagami agreed and began to make arrangements for their escape plan.
Word of Kagami trying to flee the syndicate with Tsubaki reached Daisuke's ears. Of course he was none too pleased upon hearing the news and gave the order to kill Kagami on the spot. That was when the war between Kagami and the Yamanaka Syndicate began. Kagami infiltrated their stronghold and managed to get to Tsubaki just for her to receive a gunshot wound to the chest at the hands of her father. If he wasn't going to have her no one else will. Things looked bleak for Tsubaki as she lost consciousness after the pain from the wound sunk in. The last image of her father being one of him holding the smoking gun and looking at her with an expression of disgust.
It was then that the Nakamura Clan infiltrated the stronghold to aid Kagami in one of his most dire situations. Using the confusion of the power struggle between the Nakamura's and the Yamanaka's, Kagami took Tsubaki to a quieter place in the stronghold to administer emergency first-aid. When he got her into a stable enough condition for them to escape he carried her up and out of the stronghold.
This is your story. How will you write it?
When Tsubaki came to, she was at Kagami's new condominium in Kyoto City which was quite a considerable way away from South Osaka. She was in an unfamiliar place, frightened, and unaware of her current situation. As she sat on the bed she recalled the image of her father shooting her and her conversations with Kagami. That was when she knew that she was discarded by her father and that she had no place left in the world to return to. That was when Kagami stepped into the room and explained the situation to Tsubaki. Tears trickled down the woman's face as she felt eternally grateful to Kagami for his actions. That was when she knelt before him and pledged her life to the underground doctor.
Did we forget anything?
Tsubaki fluently speaks Japanese and English.
With the time she's been living with Kagami she's picked up some knowledge on medicine and takes on the role as his assistant during surgical procedures.

The train ride was a nice little change of pace for the pair and it was really their first bit of R&R they've had together. Kagami took a sip of his bottle of tea and continued to look at his obviously tired maid. It might not have been customary for a maid to go to sleep before the one she was serving, but Kagami didn't mind seeing this side of her. With that thought flowing through his head Tsukino awoke to Kagami staring at her. Her face became flushed as she began to blush at her master witnessing her sleeping face. She quickly sat up and cleared her throat as Kagami turned his head and began to look out the window in order to aid in him feigning ignorance to what he was doing. "F-Forgive my rudeness, but i-is there something wrong, master?" Tsubaki said to Kagami while showing how obviously flustered she was.
"N-No, nothing's wrong, Tsubaki. Although I told you already that you don't need to call me 'master.' Please just call me Kagami as anyone else normally would. Your days at the syndicate are over and you're not obligated to stay with me, so please just try to relax and enjoy the ride." His concern over the whole master-maid thing was clearly shown by the tone of his voice. After hearing what Kagami said, Tsubaki looked at him and let out a sigh. "I'm sorry, but that won't do at all, master. I've pledged my service, my allegiance, and my life to you. That has nothing to do with the syndicate. I just believe that you are a master worth serving which is why my life is now for you. You have single-handedly given my life purpose, a meaning, don't you understand how much that means to me, master?"
Her words pierced him since he's never been in a situation where someone bared themselves to him in such a way. He was a bit embarrassed and became flustered himself. He turned toward the window again and let out a small sigh. "How am I supposed to say anything to that?" Kagami muttered to to himself. "Fine. If that makes you feel better or more comfortable, then proceed as you see fit." Kagami said in a tone that showed that he had been defeated in the argument. Tsubaki smiled as she clapped her hands together and looked at the almost empty bottle of tea in the rider's hand. "Would you like another bottle of tea, master?" She said cheerfully as awaited an answer or an order from her master.
